Children (K-5th grade)

All children at Christ United Methodist Church are known and nurtured in a loving Christian community.  As  Psalm 127 states, “children are a gift from the Lord” and at Christ UMC our children’s ministry seeks to honor this gift and help all children grow and develop in their walk with the Triune God.

While a nursery is available for children ages birth-4, ALL children are always welcome in the worship space! Activity packets are available in the back of the sanctuary – however, we encourage children to become active participants in worshiping God through greeting others; sharing musical gifts; receiving, requesting, and reciting prayers; participating in the children’s moment; and in overall joyous praise!

  • Spark Sunday School curriculum encourages children to open the Scriptures and explore God’s Word through a variety of age-appropriate activities designed to accommodate all of the different ways children learn. Each class is accompanied by an Adult Shepherd and a teacher. (Teachers rotate on a weekly basis, while Shepherds remain with the young people through the year.) Each week the children meet together and begin their lesson with a large group opening. Then together they participate in the workshop prepared for that particular Sunday’s class.  Rotation workshops include:
  • Art
  • Bible Skills and & Games
  • Computer Lab
  • Cooking
  • Creative Drama
  • Music
  • Science
  • and Video!
