To the friends and family of Christ UMC,
Yesterday, the World Health Organization announced that the Coronavirus also known as the COVID-19 has been labeled as a pandemic. This virus has been diagnosed all across our country as well as a few folks in our state. Governor Lujan-Grisham, encourages us to be smart over the coming weeks to minimize potential transmission of this virus.
Christ UMC has discontinued ALL worship services and meeting scheduled to be held at our church. It is encouraged that you practice social distance while you go about your daily activities during this time of social isolation. The Food Pantry is still scheduled with new procedures to distribute the food. NM National Guard volunteers will be assisting with the distribution of food. Our CUMC Volunteers, depending on your health, are discouraged from coming this month.
If you or a member of your family is feeling ill, it is encouraged that you stay home until you feel better. This will minimize our chances to come in contact with those who are coughing or sneezing. By doing so, we can prevent our passing of this virus on to others.
As part of our efforts to minimize exposure to this virus, we will be canceling all other activities and meetings of Christ UMC for the next four weeks. (Sunday School, Messy Church, Women’s Bible Study, The Spot, Choir Practices, Women’s Ministry, Clothing Bank, M&M’s, Wednesday Night Study). In addition, our office will be closed. Pastor Dustin and Susan will both be available via email, cell phone and/or text.
Any updates or changes will be communicated as necessary via website, email, Facebook, and the One Call system as this is something we have not seen before.
Again, please do not take any unnecessary risks in the coming days. I invite you to join us in prayer for all who are feeling ill, and for doctors and nurses, scientists and first responders who seek to provide healthcare in the coming days.
Grace and Love,
Tom Genné – Ad Council Chair
Warren Heffron – Lay Leader
Barbara Tegtmeier- Certified Lay Minister
